Brenda Brain
Brenda is a remedial yoga teacher, having qualified by all four certificates of the Yoga for Health Foundation, which was nationally and internationally known and respected for the remedial approach to Yoga. She was a member of the Ickwell Bury Teaching team until the Foundation closed at the end of 2005, but she has also taught at a large retirement scheme for nearly five years, and until the beginning of 2005 at Parks Physiotherapy Centre, St. Neots, Cambridgeshire.
Brenda has taught Yoga to people with various special needs: injuries (including amputees) through car, motor-cycle and workplace accidents, liver transplant, life- threatening illnesses such as cancer (she herself had breast cancer l4 years ago and again in 2005); chronic illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, motor-neurone disease, lupus, M.E., Parkinsons disease, and both osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis.
She is now teaching privately, and this website aims to make known what she can do. She is at present teaching a remedial class at Upper Caldecote Church Hall on Wednesdays. It was formed from the Yoga for Health remedial class at the Bury, and we would like more people with varying levels of fitness, or who want a gentle yoga class, to join us. Contact Brenda for further information. She would be happy to set up other classes within a l2-mile radius of St. Neots, Cambridgeshire.
Brenda will organise special Day Workshops and Weekends, which have been tried and tested at Ickwell Bury. See here for details.
If you and a friend, or maybe a group of you, would like Brenda to set up a yoga class to suit your own particular needs, whether they be remedial or up to intermediate standard, she will be pleased to talk to you and discuss how this can be done. She is available to teach weekdays and at weekends, but not in the evening. Contact Brenda for a chat. Age and gender are not deciding factors!
She has prepared a new course under the title, Yoga and Drama for Healing, and will send details to any organisation interested in this. Brenda is qualified to teach drama by the Royal Society of Arts Diploma in Drama and Theatre Arts, and has been facilitating dramatherapy sessions at the Yoga for Health Foundation for the past six years, and before that at Maidstone General Hospital in Kent, and then at The Hospice in the Weald in Kent.
Brenda has been a Reiki 2 Healer since May, 2002.
