There is nothing strange and new about this! It is simply what Brenda calls her broad spectrum of yoga and healing, and it is accessible to everyone. Fit or not-so-fit, young or old, Brenda can almost certainly tailor the session to fit your individual needs - even in the class environment.
Heartfelt Yoga...
...is not just exercise: it aims for the balance of mind, body and spirit. As the emotions, good and bad, affect the mind - and the mind controls the body - so the primary concern of Heartfelt Yoga is "to tame the wild Horses of the mind", as the yoga sage, Patanjali, said some 5,000 years ago. In Brenda's classes relaxation, breathing techniques and learning to meditate play as big a part as the asanas (exercises).
Heartfelt Yoga...
...is based upon breathing, relaxing and gentle yoga stretches leading into classic postures - always done mindfully and related to your individual needs. Each session ends with a ten-minute period of relaxation or meditation.
Heartfelt Yoga...
...draws upon classic Hatha (physical) yoga, Kundalini yoga (working through the chakras, the energy centres of the body) and occasionally introducing Qi Gong (Chinese 'yoga') in a simple form for its calming quality. Brenda uses the voice in chanting, and sound with movement, to bring peace to the mind and to help in breath control. She uses affirmations to control the mind-set.
These varied techniques are not introduced into every class - breathing relaxation and stretching are - but from time to time they give variety so that students may choose and use what is best for them in their personal practice.
